Elegant Universe was designed to inspire us to question the world around us. This collection is assembled of intentional prints, embroideries, wallcoverings, and trimmings that pay homage to the intersection of science and femininity. It’s in this spirit that we bring to light the work of an artistic trailblazer who inspired one of our newest trims in this storied textile collection.

Inspired by the works of botanical illustrator, Alice Tangerini—the first botanical artist hired by the Smithsonian Institution—this linen tape is embellished with a leafy motif created with embroidery threads made of wrapped mini cords (also known as vergolino). Much like Alice herself who differentiated botanical art from fine art by way of careful classification detailing, our Tangerini trim is delicately designed to bring the same intentional analysis to any interior this beauty adorns.
