It was an exciting week in the City of Light, and I couldn’t wait to get home and share the beautiful debuts and showcases we swooned over while in France for Paris Déco Off.
At the top of every year, the city comes alive in celebration of design and the creative spirit. Interior-decoration ateliers come together on the banks of the Seine to showcase the latest in fabrics, wallcoverings, paint, pillows, rugs, lighting, and accessories for the home.
We at S. Harris were there to highlight our Elements by Diane Keaton collection, along with our upcoming Design En Rogue: Architecture line. We also celebrated the anticipated S. Harris fabric and trim collab we’ve created with architect and designer Benjamin Johnston called Vacanza, a compendium of colorful geometrics that recall another time and place.
Coinciding with Maison & Objet, where the theme for this year centered around creating harmony within the home, the environment, and yourself, Paris Design Week truly spoke our language.
Here are some of my favorite inspired moments from Paris, with love.
FIRED UP
From the oxidized bronze glazes of its Terra bowls to handmade porcelain Tokasu vessels that draw from the Japanese art of indigo dyeing, L’Objet launched its L’Atelier collection, bringing craftsmanship and time-honored techniques from the kiln to the table.
IT'S SHOWTIME
Elements by Diane Keaton for S. Harris
The S. Harris Elements by Diane Keaton collection pulls together a sartorial cast of fabrics in monochromatic colorways that tell a story inspired by the people and places the award-winning actress holds dear, as well as her films and co-stars.
SILVER LINING
Subodh Gupta took over Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche with his lustrous installation, Sangam: a curated grouping of mirrored cascades and clustered pots and pans offering commentary on human connection centered around art. The name of the installation is an ode to the Hindu festival Kumbh Mela, a mass pilgrimage that culminates in a dip in one of four sacred rivers in India.
LOOK UP
Paris Déco Off Lampshades via Love Happens
And, of course, the highlight of Paris Déco Off every year: 150 lampshades hovering overhead as you walk down the street, dressed in textiles as beautiful and romantic as the city itself.
MY FAVES
I’m still dreaming about the playful designs of Popus Editions; the eco-conscious, boho-glam creations of Bérengère Leroy; and Sapio’s fashionable pop-up.
And, since every good Paris trip must include a glass or two of French vin and mouth-watering cuisine, we indulged in estate-bottled wines by Domaine de Cébène and Domaine la Calmette from La Dernière Goutte (or, The Last Drop) in the 6th arrondissement; plus, we enjoyed an unforgettable Lebanese meal at Liza on Rue de la Banque.
What were your favorite scenes from Paris Déco Off and Maison & Objet 2023? We’d love to hear from you—tag us on social to join the conversation. #sharris
